Hello to all.
I'm a Brit living in Brussels for the last 20+ years.
I'm not into high end stuff, mostly budget to mid-fi, mostly because I'm not convinced I would hear much difference (high frequency hearing not that great any more!).

System 1: Audiolab 8000C pre-amp, Nikko Alpha 400 power amp (at the moment), Sony CDP-C545 & V-Dac, V-Link with Fiio Taishan from PC, Technics SL-QD2, Monitor Audio Silver S5. Substitute power amps Rotel RB960BX & Xantech PA4100X.

System 2: Marantz PM8000, Marantz CD6000OSE, Technics SL-DD33, Monitor Audio BR5. Substitute amps Marantz PM7003, Sony TA-F630ESD, NAD 3130. Also have a Yamaha CDC-765.

Music mostly rock - Marillion, Floyd/Gilmour, Rush, Sabbath, Zeppelin, AC/DC, UFO, Sirenia, Icehouse, Gary Moore etc etc etc.

Cheers for now. Time for some red wine.

Hello Derek. Welcome to AOS.

I'm sure you'll find plenty to interest you here.

Just because you think your hearing is not great, don't assume you can't benefit from decent Hi-Fi gear, My hearing is not great, but I can easily hear differences in sound quality. If you are interested, I'm sure we can help you upgrade your sounds. Don't under estimate the Nikko power amp in your main system. It's a good unit. I'd be more inclined to change the pre-amp myself. I won't say anything rude about Audiolab amps, but I wouldn't buy one. I reckon your Nikko might give you a big surprise paired up with a valve pre-amp.

There is a Gallery section if you'd like to post some system photos, they'd be appreciated.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
I'll keep your comment about the valve pre-amp in mind thanks Geoff, but not sure I'm quite ready to jump in that direction yet.
