I just watched the full 1hr 19min version! Fascinating. It helps to explain, for me, why I like what I like.
Thanks for the link. Now where's the rep button?
Thank you for posting this. I really enjoyed it. Only watched the 20 minute version, but really good!
Thanks again...
By the way, where is the 1hr 19 version?

Which is the main reason we are seeing a return by many to Analog, much of the music recorded today doesent have the information on it to retrieve in the first place!:(
We can reverse it, but you have to change the mindset of the customer, and those producing the music,,,music has become cheapend to the point that youngsters dont even listen to whole songs, let alone whole albums!

Oops! I looked across the page and saw the Andrew Scheps presentation. I got confused, that's the 1hr 19min video. And it was well worth watching, too. All of it!

Well, in the good old analogue LP days, we were too stoned to get up and change the music all the time! :peace: It's too easy now, just move a finger.

I don't think music has been cheapened at all.
What has happened is that society's overall attention span has shortened due to commerce and the wash of things, products, media etc all competing for our attention and money.
Music is affected by that as much as anything else. Yet it's up to the individual to focus their attention on their own values, interests and pleasures. So we have a more niche music market for long play and sound quality as, when push comes to shove, it isn't and perhaps has NEVER been a priority for the masses.
Look at the Dansettes and cheap and wobbly turntables which have been used by the massess to play scratched up 7" records churned out cheaply on knackered stampers whilst they sit there listening in mono with a speaker frequency response of about 80Hz - 14KHz and probably all sorts of honks and quacks from the vibrating vinylwrap covered fiberboard a Dansette is made of. And then people reminisce about the quality of vinyl when they were young despite the fact that all they had was a cheap Dansette knock-off with all the problems above. Different if they really had a top-notch rich person's hifi system in those days but the masses never had, don't and never will.
Music has always been cheap in terms of quality - just that, whereas previously they paid more attention to it and had less in their lives, today there's more choice for your attention and so people choose music less often.

Haha. After 15 odd minutes that gentle woosh and click kicks in and you all get tripped out on that! Keep on tripping out but hide the remote.
These days the scurge is random play.

I would like to say that I've sat listening to a Dansette on the floor with a pile of old 7"s and enjoyed it immensely (a friend's retro purchase and a bulk purchase of 80s rock and pop froma boot sale - so a recent experience) . Discovering B-sides particularly. Albums and sound quality aren't everything..
