Would a euro amp with 220v AC on the rear be ok to use here - uk ?

If it's CE-marked then that means that the manufacturer has declared that it meets the European electrical equipment safety standards. One of those standards states that equipment must work safely over the range 216V-253V. In the UK your mains voltage shouldn't exceed 253V. So in principle, if the amp is CE-marked, then the answer is yes. However this relies a) on your electricity provider delivering no more then 253V at your socket outlets (mostly they do do this) and b) that the amp manufacturer hasn't lied (some do this) or simply messed up (some do this too). If the amp is not CE-marked then I would be wary of using it without getting it professionally checked over first.

You can easily set up either a bucking tx or a variac to solve the problem and supply the amp with 220 volts. the other way is to use a voltage regenerator like a powerinspired . it will supply all your equ with 230 which will be well within the tolerances.

Hi Grant ---- that AG500 regenerator looks interesting and intuitively makes more sense to me than a very expensive power conditioner ---- do you find it useful and a worthwhile upgrade ?

I use the AG1500 some of the time. The software has a mains monitoring section which is excellent, and nearly the best thing about it for me was discovering I have stable and good mains :)
No sound issues with mine, the fan is quiet and can be set inaudibly low. Mine is a couple of years old I guess and has been 100% trouble free. Very good value. I would question for you two things:
1 Are you sure 500W is enough, I can't help but feel that if you were to run the unit near its full rated power it will be both noisier and possibly might interfere with dynamics (but have nothing to back that up at all)
2 You will STILL be running a 220V amp on 230V. Not an issue for a good bit of kit, but if the beast has been built to a budget and possibly rather close to the design tolerances it may still be pushed hard with all that means. It might be possible to get AG to build you a 220V version; worth the question?
