ive wanted to get the klh 23's up to the right height for a while so i made these at work today, not sure on what colour yet, maybe white,
they are a big speaker so i wanted to make them look planted, and the weight of the stands certainly does that.
excuse the lack of carpet, that's my next job lol.

Nice job. Do them in gunmetal grey! It'll look classy, without attracting the eye too much.

cheers, in your experience what would be a good starting point for the 23's away from the back wall?

Could you have not made them with invisible weld?

yeah i could have spent more time doing that but to be honest i couldn't be arsed as it was in my lunch break.i personally like to see a weld, they look a lot bigger in the photo because of the flash.
they were just a quick thing to get the speakers at the right height, now if i wanted to go to town id veneer the 150mm x 100mm box section and make the plates from mdf veneered.....now that would look good, well in my eyes anyway lol

I personally hate to see weld, one of the reasons i was a fan of the original Sound Organisation racks from the 80's

Easy enough to just dress the weld with a rotary flapper disc rather than a grinding disc as it gives a smoother finish.
Give the stands a couple of coat's of filler primer first as well as that fills in some imperfections, don't think it will be that obvious when its all done and they will be good solid stands
as well

Nice job really

Yep, a sound base and with a dressing or two will be great... Liked the idea of encasing them. boy would that be something.

You gave me an idea to take the stands and encase them in wood. would look great and be a surprise for anyone lifting them. I do like wood
