Pioneer DV-717 - disc spinning noise

Hi.

My Pioneer DV-717 makes a bit of mechanical noise when playing. I think it makes a more with DVDs than with CDs, but I'm not sure.
Anyway, it is audible when the sound is really low.

Since I bought it second hand, I don't know if that is normal or if it could use some lubrication.
Does yous do the same?
Any tips on how to lube it?

Mine is quiet.

Can't advise on servicing, as I've never had the case off.

Mine is quiet as well. Might be, if its the dvd is worse that the laser is getting tired. it usually goes first. if it was jumping then the laser head tracks could be cleaned and lubed with graphite. the laser eye could be cleaned with isopropol and a bud, and may help

I just checked. Playing CDs it is quit silent, but when I insert a DVD I can clearly hear something changes and it starts to make noise. A contínuous trtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtr, audible in all the room (when in silent, of course).

It has two lasers, right?

2lasers, yes. Have you checked it on all your dvds. sometimes some discs do make a noise for differing reasons. It can be the printing on the disc or occasionally the disc is not dead centre or not a perfect circle etc. the edges can be a little off etc. disc can spin up to 500 rpm especially early in the first tracks

I'm moving house* and only have one DVD with me (a burned one), so I can't try with another one now.
It can't also read after around the middle of the disk, so something's wrong with the Pioneer. My Denon plays it all without hesitation and without any noise (except the lousy fan).

First step for me would be a thorough (lid off) clean of the laser lens.
