Pass diy Buffer DC coupled version of B1 built from PCB from diyaudio and incorporating 3 inputs and 1 output.

A buffer provides no gain but increases current to drive the power amp and/or long interconnects. Effectively a passive preamp with balls and a best of both worlds if you don't need gain.

Nicely built with some nice components and incorporates Alps Blue pot, relay switched input, nice case and additional PSU cap board.(it can be modded to add 2 more inputs by adding some wire and phono sockets and using the other 2 relays not currently in use.)

It is half width so 225mm W x 300mm L x 110mm H

Adds very little and takes very little away from the signal. lovely item that will compete with some expensive pre-amps out there.

Only selling as I have built a cost no object version.

Asking £240 + P&P or pick up at the pieshow/collect from Surrey/Hampshire border

That's my old one I built. Wondered where that ended up!

How does it sound with the LFD PA2?

I bought it from you, kept it for ages, then sold it to JP who has also had it for quite a while. Embarrasses a lot of pricey kit!

Not bad at all with the LFD PA2 although the PA2 doesn't really need the extra current and is pretty much as good with a passive (unusually - although my passive was a bit of interconnect wire with a stepped pot in the middle of it and no case!) I've mainly been using it with a very modified Leak Stereo 20 which really added dynamics from the DCB1 over a simple passive and these are reported to be ideal for passive pre-amp use! go figure....

Hopefully I will get round to putting the LFD up for sale soon as well as my other amps are back from a service.

Shocked this is still here - very nice sounding unit. Small price reduction if that helps? £225 + P&P

Now i have been running the dcb1 for a while and i think that this is a briliant piece of equipment, and especially at that price. The setup is a Pass f5 and dcb1 to a pair of fairytale audio "storyteller" speakers and the amount of details thats hitting my ears have never been this lifelike before, almost touchable.
So if you dont need the gain in the pre, this is a realy good solution
Will try with a lightspeed instead of the blue alps pot early next year just to see what's happening with the sound.
I'm a happy camper
