YOU NEED A NEW MAT!!!!!!! :)
Linn mats should be very thin with diameter right out to the lip on the edge. I'm afraid yours has shrunk, which they do after some years and in my experience as a one-time Linn setter-upper, the sound goes right off.
You could of course try one of Oscar's thin cork mats, which costs a lot less than the hideously inflated amounts Linn charge for anything these days.......
What's the amp, a 160? DUH! Just looked on your welcome post.

Cheers, surprised as just had complete service and upgrade with Lingo and new base plate, they never mention the mat. Cheers, as you can see, I use Oscar, will get one from him
The Barbarian: yes considered the arm and cartridge, but will have to wait. The Ittok is a real work of art, tho.

I sold a rare mint condition Naim 'NAP120' to a guy in Germany early in the year. The cracked pot gave me £600 for it  I wernt sniffing at it tho.. He was obviously a collector..
The 120 was a lovely thing and one of Naim's best sounding amps ever. I'd have loved one, but not for £600  The original bolt-up 250 was another great amp for the period it was made in IMO :)

Peter, looking at some of your books there is it safe to assume that you've left a wee bit of your heart in Paradise?
