Had a near total eclipse a while ago. Thought it was just the weather initially as it went really dark and put lights on awaiting a downpour. nice and sunny now though.
pity i was not aware it was happening
Was so overcast here I couldn't see anything. It did go quite and cold though.
The birds in garden freaked out a bit too.
It's bright and sunny now with blue skies. Shame it couldn't have been the same for the event.
Here the weather was top notch, so perfect bluebird etc. Had a brief session to check the eclipse from the office window with multiple different methods. I think one of the best was the carton camera obscura made by few co-workers.. :)

I don't know what the fuss is about really. It's just a natural event and totally meaningless. Just a coincidental occlusion of the sun. Nothing more. It has no impact on everyday life (not mine at least). So there! :)
Just working out who should be sacrificed to the Sky Gods... any requests? :eyebrows:

Got quiet cool and dull outside and yes birds did seem to be freaked by it.

It's actually full of meaning and portent for me coinciding with my birthday, the start of spring and a year full of potential for positive change.
I'm not giving mystical properties to it at all, I'm more saying that it can be a signifier to remind us that change can be good even though we don't always see it at the time.
It also reminds me of just how small we are in the grand scheme of things. Whatever we do the world will keep turning etc.
Indeed - and I'd have a front-row seat, watching the scotched and liquified flesh drip from their bones, catching that final look of sheer horror on their faces, just before they slip into unconsciousness and die.....

Precisely: it *was* horrible, which is why it'd be the perfect way for my enemies to perish, dying in agony, as I watch and laugh............. You torture their mind first, then their body ;)

Wicker Man is an awesome film. Dont usually like this kind if film but I will make an exception for an exceptional film.
The wife and I used to go out at night to catch the nightime goings on of the sky...lunar eclipse. shooting stars. comet. meteors etc. think that may have been my only chance of a 90% solar and I missed it....PISSED OFF ACTUALLY.
I have been unable to get the image of Father Ted explain about cows to Dougal.... "These are small, but the ones out there are far away", while listening to the so called experts. I feel that they have underestimated most peoples understanding and intelligence.
I caught a glimpse of the eclipse at about 80% through the clouds which was impressive. It didn't get as dark as I was hoping though. It felt calm and peaceful rather than eerie to me.

There was not much you could see this far south. It was overcast as well, so really a non-event in this area.

Clear blue skies here but it was a bit dissapointing; didn't get very dark but the light went very weird for about ten minutes. Not as good as the 1999 effort.

(great movie by the way. I like grim films. Arlington Road and Jacob's Ladder spring to mind. Funny that they've both got Tim Robbins in)

Some Cox on TV said that in a few million years, there won't be any more eclipses so enjoy them while you can!
The moon is slowly moving away from the earth, you see, so it will no-longer fully obscure the sun at some point.
You know, it's actually quite a rare phenomenon that the moon pretty much blocks the sun exactly. Well, as rare as anything can be in an infinite universe (can't be bothered to think if current theory thinks it is infinite or not - but feel free to correct that with some better knowledge).

Me too, something suitably harrowing and depraved, or black comedies. Can't stand watching films that are too cheery! ;)

Up in Cheshire it was a good day to see the eclipse. A little cloud, but gaps wham it mattered.
This is me holding binoculars and projecting the image on the carpet.
Tilly loved it.
