Computer Mouse

I need a new computer mouse that plugs straight into a USB socket.

The build quality must be good, as I'm a fairly heavy handed bugger!

Some recommendation would be great.

I have used this for about 18 months and still on first battery. great mouse; tough build and no wire to get damaged. auto set up too no driver needed

Ive always used the Logitech Track Balls. Brilliant things, dont make you hand hurt like standard mice can, no need for a mat & i find they are more accurate.

I've been using a Logitech Bluetooth mouse for about 6 years with my Mac - best and most reliable I've ever come across and crushes Apple's rubbish attempts with ease. Scroll wheel has a superb light action and batteries last forever.
Never used the one eyed alien linked to above but if the quality is at the same level it's a winner!

I like a bigger trackball like those made by Kensington if I'm sitting at a desk (normally just a laptop trackpad and now I have touchscreen too!). See them used in computer-use-intensive music studios quite a bit for some reason (people copy each other to get the job done). Their top (i.e. bigger) models are not cheap (like £80 if you shop around) but solid and last. Mine is old and not optical so does suffer from the odd bit of grit getting in - a new optical type won't suffer that.

I don't know what you'll use it for mostly but if you use some specific software with lots of tools you use often (like photoshop, CAD etc) a Mad Catz gaming mouse actually is pretty good! And it adjusts in length I think to fit your hand

Have seen someone using that for CAD with the different controls programmed for different functions of the software, spinning objects around in 3D etc and of course a million other things when combined with the keyboard. Something like 90+ different programmable click actions from the one mouse.

I use a Logitech trackball mouse too. Different to this one but the same principle. I would never go back to a standard mouse and pad!
