Just bought this beauty for linestage in my Croft 25R+:)

The only thing to be aware of when substituting the 12BH7 for the likes of ECC82 is that the heater current required is doubled.

ECC82 heater 12.6V 0.15A, 12BH7 heater 12.6V 0.3A.

My linestage has been changed to work specifically with a 12BH7A:) hence a bit of tube rolling ;)

yeah looking forward to some tube rolling in the linestage.

As you are probably aware the phono stage goes through the linestage so quite critical to get the best tube in this position. Tried JJ ECC99 - terrible, RCA 12BH7a 1960's - nice but looking for a bit more so hence GE 12BH7a.

Indeed I do... it is a critical valve. I've just swapped in a new one too!

Hi Jo,

I know your pre is different to mine but what valves have you used in the linestage. I would be interested to know whick makes you have found good.

I am working my way through recommended NOS valves from RCA, GE, Westinghouse and would like to try Tung-Sol.

I would ask your amp manufacture first but I see no reason why you couldn't run the 3 mica GE or Raytheon 6414 computer tube made to last 10,000 hrs and can be found a reasonable prices.
I use them in my Manley Labs Stingray.
