ROTEL RCD-95- good, bad or indifferent?

Basically I'm looking at either one of these or the CD63 KI Signature. The Rotel is slightly cheaper but is that because the Marantz is simply better?

probably not much in it quality wise. much depends on your tastes..I would prefer the Rotel but thats just a personal choice.

Without the time to test, what are the differences?

I prefer my sound to be warm but detailed, if that helps.

the ki sig would be for you then id say. rotels well the 951 and 965 that i had would not be classed by me as warm. certainly the ki sig is the one to go for in the 63 range

Just a word of caution - I bought a Marantz CD67se in the hope of warming up a fairly stark-sounding system, which it did, but at the expense of neutrality. That warm, rich Marantz sound is not accurate and whilst it can make some material sound sublime in the end I decided it was just too coloured, making very different production styles all sound the same.

I've got a fair few players of which the B&O CD7000, Technics SLP1200 Broadcast and the Parasound CDP100 all do what you are after but with a bit more neutrality than Marantz. Sadly none of them work any more and that is something to consider when buying an old player.

You could check out the Pioneer players with the legato link set up - they are plentiful and cheap enough to take a punt on.
