Anyone know anything about HK CD players, as in are they any good, whose electronics do they use, are they reliable and do they have a signature sound?
If I keep my newly acquired HK amp I might be tempted to try one in the interests of system synergy.

I have an HD 990 CDP which I am not using at present. The mech it is fitted with isn't great and it is very noisy with some CD's. The Dac is the best feature and because it has SP/DIF inputs it can be used as a Dac. This is the way I have used it in together with a Pioneer DVD player with good results. I prefer to use a transport and a Dac these days as Laser death in a CDP player not fitted with a digital input can spell the end for that machine.
I wouldn't worry too much about system synergy too much myself.
