Greetings from California

Hi all!

I never thought I would be interested in modifying equipment, let alone join such a forum.

I find myself here after doing research on the Beresford 7520, which led me to reading about modifications, which led me to actually buying a replacement op-amp before I have even ordered the 7520. I hope to order it some time in September.

In any case, I've enjoyed what I've read here so far. I look forward to learning a whole different angle to this wonderful hobby.

Love the nick name....could that be a possible King Crimson album ref there ? Or a new Robert Fripp album if he ever puts the weight on (unlikely).

Could you/would you like to post some photos of your audio system in the Gallery section of the forum ? What kind of music do you like ?

Hi Scott, and welcome, What a coincidence, I'm fat and slightly starless! :)

I'm not sure you will have been "exposed" to the "Caiman" Hamish talks of - basically a ready modified 7520 - plenty of details on here - but not sure it has yet been offered for public consumption outside the UK - Stan Beresford will no doubt clarify shortly.

Whereabouts in California are you - Only spent 2 weeks there a few years ago but wow, what a place, Yosemite being the highlight for me being a bit of an Ansel Adams fan. San Francisco a fabulous city, not to mention the wine of course!

Look forward to hearing about your system etc.

Okay! :lol: I AM at work, so I'll make it brief. I would like to take the time at some point and give a history and future roadmap of where I'm trying to go. But, for now...

Whew! there's a lot on this Forum. Very strange being in a subjectivist-friendly environment after wallowing in other forums with endless debates and diatribes against anyone who actually FEELS music.

It seems even stranger that what I perceive to be a subjectivist-centric sight actually tends to apply science via modding rather than cite Double-Blind-Test mantras. (I apologize in advance if I've mis-read the tone of the forum)

I received my LM4562HA yesterday, but will have to wait a while before I buy the 7520. I have ofther fiancial stuff to take care- but I did need the sense of instant gratification.

I can confirm though, that, without actually installing the chip, it has made no sonic difference at all in my system so far :ner:

A friendly word of advise: -
Excellent though the 7520 is, the Caiman is much much better - save up a little longer or a little harder (only a little) and go for the Caiman.
