I hope this is in the right section?? But after adding my name to the album club, I was just playing a couple of LP's trying to choose which one to enter. One had so much background "static" hiss that I had to take it off. It was hurting my ears!!! Then I remembered that I'd bought a bottle of Record Restorer Liquid from here - http://www.recordrestorer.co.uk/

So being the sceptic that I am, I just thought I'd give it ago. I mixed it according to the instructions, but I put the fluid in my Knosti cleaner rather than use the sponge supplied. I've just waited for the vinyl to dry following the clean and rinse procedure. I'm now playing the offensive LP and WOW what a difference!!! I can honestly say it's made a massive difference!!! Now, I usually treat my vinyl with my own mix of distilled water and phenolic alcohol and to date that has worked very well :)
It recommends that you use one cap full in 2 litres of tepid water, to clean 10 12" LP's - but my Knosti only holds about 1/3 of a litre so I mixed one cap full in 1 litre!! I gave each LP about 30 spins (15 in each direction) then a good rinse in clean cold water and dried in the rack. I'm not one for doing reviews, but I just can't believe the results so far!! :) Got another 5 albums to try in a Mo!!

I'm now planning on having a "cleaning" day of all my most played vinyl - the effect has been very unexpected and it is nice to find a product that actually doe's work :) :)

Just to be thorough I gave an LP that I considered to be a great "player" the treatment - and it really did lift an already great sounding vinyl to a new level :)

Tom, does the label have a list of the active ingredients? Does it smell of alcohol?

Doesn't smell of alcohol - ingredients "50ml of biodegradable solvents and antibacterial agents" There must be some kind of detergent in it as there is a slight "froth" when using it in the knosti cleaner and leaves a little in the rinse water. I've been just wiping the excess water off and standing to dry after the clean and rinse - leaves a nice streak free bright surface.
Also, no visible residue on the stylus after playing the newly cleaned vinyl.

just made up my first litre of my own brand cleaning fluid. seems to work fine and cost will work out to be minimal. not actually played them yet but they look very clean

Top Medical grade yes...Got a couple of gallons in a gift.......add some cheap malt and I'm away :eyebrows:

That's right, slippery to the touch. It goes a long way as one cap full to make 2 litres of cleaner. I think it has been going a while. :)

I bought some and have just finished using this on a copy of Dire straits - Love over gold. This was quite a noisey vinyl with little clicks and pops which my homemade brew of 99% isopropanol, distilled water and a few drops of washing liquid wouldn't stop.
I made up the solution as stated but added a few extra drops as you do and used it the same way as I have been on my Diy RCM.
Wow! I'm quite impressed to be honest. I'm not saying all clicks and pops have gone but it's a hell of a lot better. Also the record is looking like new too.
It's a strange solution, it's as if there's silicon added as it is quite slippery as Graham said. I'd give it a go chaps. See what you think.

Ive used this stuff too- it does make a big difference to the vinyl's cosmetic looks. Dries in a couple of hours if put on thinly enough- residue can be gently rubbed off vinyl or on occasions where needed the labels too! Its about £12 a bottle from what i remember- had my bottle for a couple of years and shelf life doesnt seem affected- www.recordrevirginizer.com australian company but ship anywhere in world- id recommend it! £6.75 per bottle, I bought two just to be on the safe side - however, after using it I can see it lasting for quite some time :) :) - I still use my isoprophanol and distilled water mix for day to day use.....But I'm working my way through all my old and known "crackly" albums now :)
