Had a look at my Spendor speaker drive units today after deciding to rotate the mid/ bass units.

Both the mid and tweeter drive units are connected to the crossover network via thin wire terminated at both ends with spade plugs which have now become tarnished/oxidised.

Can anyone recommend best way to clean them or would just disconnecting and reconnecting them give a better contact?

The ultimate option would be to do away with the spades and solder units directly to the crossovers. Would this be any better than spade plugs.?

Deoxit should do it ok.

If there's is no plating they will keep tarnishing id have thought. Soldering wires directly to the units is a dicey game

Tell Spendor. They may offer new spade connectors.

Hi Grant, never used Deoxit. Do you just spray it onto the contacts and leave it to do the job?

The speaker terminal you would want to spray deoxit onto a cotton bud and rub them as you don't want it getting on the actual cone backs. The wires you can spray or I'd put some deox in a small container and dip etc.

You don't need to be too fussy on how you use it.
Direction on my Deoxit DN5: "Apply a short burst to metal surface. Operate part/device to break up contamination. Wait a few seconds and reapply. Wait a few minutes, then turn on equipment."
I do connectors once every few years - do it often if you have copper.
