Had this a few months now and the cart may now be just run in (30hrs??) but I have to say, I'm thoroughly enjoying it, it just sings so right, nothing gets in the way of the music. Its getting addictive, every spare moment I have (and some I shouldn't have) i just spin a record or three!!

Very nice Steve.
Very nice Steve.
I agree with that!
Superb stuff, Steve!
Glad you’re enjoying the OC-9, which obviously gels very nicely with the T/T and arm. Which Funk T/T and arm is it? For me, that’s the nicest T/T I’ve ever seen from Funk, and also one of the nicest looking belt-drives.
Enjoy - just by looking at it, I *know* that it’ll sound nicely musical!

Hi Marco
It's a Funk Firm LSD with an F5 arm and very, well let's say traditional in its design, but one that works very well. It replaced a Rega RP6 which was good but a bit steady!
The OC9 replaced my AT150mlx cart, which was lovely, this just brings more of everything.
I love the look of Audio Technica cartridges - classy and industrial at the same time

Lovely to see one on here. A giant killer. Traditional looks (compared with the very untraditional vector and sapphire), but the vector drive is unique for a belt drive (unique to Funk - its on 2 of their other decks).

Excellent. Out of interest, how much is the LSD/F5 combo?

Around £1500. I see AK STILL hasn't revised his website, where different finishes are quoted at slightly different prices - but £1500 near enough is UK retail price. The deck only sells in that form - £1500 for an integrated turntable. The F5 arm is available separately for £750. He also has his SDG "Super Deck Grande" planned - which has mounts for a 9 inch and 12 inch version of the arm - although no mention of that on the (now seriously overdue for revision) website

I've just had the boy Arthur on wetting his knickers about the best magazine review ever for his "SGD" (you know - the deck he hasn't yet put on his own Funk website). I'm sure it would be all wrong for me to post it on here, and anyway its a Word document, and I have no idea how to link it. Some interesting snippets (the ones about the Denon cartridge, I still dispute on the basis a low mass arm just needs mass adding at the headshell)
"The F5 is 18 grams effective mass (12” version), making it ideal for stiffer (low compliance) MC’s like a Denon DL-03 for example."
"Dopplespitze: “Doubleplusgood(!)”"
"Conclusion:
Arthur Khoubesserian with his Super Deck Grande shows the analogue community that a record player with perfect measurements, a world class sound and good day-to-day useability doesn’t need to cost a fortune. In addition he offers vinyl fans an easy route to a relatively solution to have a second arm, be it right off the bat or later as an upgrade. "
Maybe he'll sell one or two now. The review is in the German magazine "Audio". In case anyone disputes my translation of a phrase I never expected to see in a review, the German is "Arthur Khoubesserian zeigt der Analogwelt mit dem Super Deck Grande, dass ein Spieler mit PERFEKTEN MESSWERTEN ...
It's going to take months to chisel the grin off his face :D

Just to be really naughty (sorry - but I had a stressful week and I'm catching up)

Apologies if this amounts to thread hijack - really pleased the OP is enjoying his LSD, and hope he appreciates a peek of its big brother, and all the nice German words written about it. If if needs moving - mods feel free
Looks very nice, as does the OP's one. Always like nice design. If Marco wants you to link the word doc it's not difficult if you have google drive. You could aleways convert it to pdf first as more folk could have access.
Not at all, Richard. The thread is essentially about the LSD/Funk, so go right ahead! I doubt that Steve will mind.
Looks like an excellent T/T, to me, which (knowing Arthur) will offer superb SPPV - just the sort of thing we like to hear about on AoS! :)
Marco.

I have no issues with this, it's a Funk thread after all, there aren't many about these days!!
That look lovely, Mmmmmm
That LSD is a nice looking deck.
Maybe one day....

Mrs S distracted me with urgent French house issues, fortunately. It gave me time to realise the article is probably copyright. Although I don't suppose many as readers read German language reviews. They definitely liked it. Shows what I know. I said nobody would want a 2 arm deck. He's just had an order for 5!

Hey, maybe that PT bloke would like to share all his royalties!! Then again, I think I nicked it from somewhere and mine only has two rather than three or then again, it might be totally different anyway!!
My development hack got hacked again about three months ago and I added an additional bearing (out of a buggered hard disk - great quality) to take the strain off the bearing towards the motor. Such a small change and the effect was subtle but they all add up after all.
This smoothed out the sound and actually added a little to depth and height. We are talking a fraction but it obviously does something.
One of these days, I must pretty it all up again.

Had an email from Arthur today in which he mentions the SGD will be on the Funk website later this week.

I had a drink in the pub with him before Christmas when he told me the same thing. The road to hell is paved with good intentions :)

The royalties would have been in the post if you could explain why your arrangement doesn't make things worse rather than better. Its to do with resonances - and as a hint the pulleys are not the same size - they turn at different speeds. But I'm afraid AK has the patent

Well, there's a surprise:lol:
My arrangement does make it better. No idea why and don't care really, it just does. Perhaps because it take some strain off the bearing perhaps some other reason, who knows?

I too have to admit... Most Funk TT's are bloody awful to look at but that one is superb! I know they sound great so you have a very nice TT there.
The thing I like about Arthur is that he always thinks outside of the box, and tries to be different. By adopting that approach, it’s natural that sometimes you’re going to get it wrong, but when you get it right, as in this case, the rewards can be significant! :)

The new TT (LSD's bigger brother) is now on Funks website along with a 30day money back trail at home offer. Can't ask for more really.
