I've recently acquired a pair of Beovox RL45, I'm a fan of the B&O RL range, I've had a pair of 60.2's for well over 10 years and they're currently part of my kitchen system. The problem with the 45's is that the ABR material is perished and I'm left with this:

I've found a few threads on repairing the ABR, one suggestion is to replace it with a port this does not appeal as my 60.2's have ports and I really want to hear the difference between ported and ABR. Another suggestion is to use speaker grille cloth but I can't see how the cloth wouldn't stretch and sag under the weight.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a foam type material that is both thin enough and at least 400mm wide?

Thing is Andr'e it's really thin;

and I can't find anything that sort of size.

You can buy it 3mm thick.

Be nice to know what the original was made of but it's quite obviously not reliable.

I think 3mm would be too thick / rigid? The original material measures about 1mm, it seems to be speaker surround foam, whatever that is?

I see Foamex is available in 1mm thickness, do you reckon that's worth a punt?

Thanks Andr'e I had seen the article but no mention of what material to use. I think your suggestion of Foamex will be the material of choice do you know whether Foamex can be manipulated to add a concave shape the weight?

That's my problem, no consensus on what's the best material to use.

Im not sure Darren, i can't see it being expensive, gotta be worth a try. ABR' are usually Rubber with Polystyrene pad, some just use basic Speaker cones on open frames.

What about some silicon rubber sheet {the flexible stuff not the solid} you can get this in 1.6mm i think.

Very interesting suggestion, how well do you think it would glue?

Spray contact adhesive should be fine..

After a quick Google it would seem that gluing Silicon Rubber's a bit involved and so I've decided to take the easy way out and use Foamex. Thanks for all your help and suggestions Andr'e, I'll upload some photo's when done :youtheman:.
