Apologies for the pun, but, well, judge for yourself. :)

Sources are an old CDTwo transport into the 2.1x Balanced DAC and a SL1210 with Arm 2 and IQ3 cartridge.
There's an AN kit MM phono stage in there, above the DAC.
Amp is an Oto Phono SE Signature into J LX speakers.
Just about the only thing that isn't AN is the Techie.
Oh, and the little silver coloured DAC which I feed the DVD output into for film duties, plus the M2Tech Hiface 2.
Ok, that's three things....
Sound wiise it aint perfect, but it really hits my spot, encouraging me to listen virtually every night and buy loads of music.
I reckon my telly will probably last forever....:D

Now that would make my winky twitch.
(Am I allowed to say that sort of thing on here?)
OOOha, lovely stuff...black, gold and AN speakers too. :stalks:

No.
It is sounding rather lovely now it is getting more hours under its belt. Come and have a listen at Scalford. Sounds a bit different from AN cartridges.

And therein lies a tale...
When the Techie power supply was taken offboard, done to Qwin's excellent design, I wanted to get a good aesthetic match:-

Only thing is, the gold knob for the on/off switch ended up costing more than the components inside.

Very nice system, Steve.
I'll be moving my hi-fi into a bigger room in May. I will then need speakers that are 'efficient' and can be close near the back wall.
Are your J/LX fairly new?
I'm slightly toying with the idea of getting the AN-J/D speakers. (Hemp cones)
My Sugden really needs a loudspeaker that is efficient.

They date from mid 2012, Shane.
I'm using them in a room that's about 4m by 5m.
They seem to go loud enough with 10 watts in that space. :fingers:
How big is your room though?
Any bigger than that and the E's might do a better job, IMO.
I see you've got a Rega Planet. What a fantastic player. :)

My next room will slightly be bigger than yours.
Yeah, the Planet is good. But fancy trying a Sugden CD Player next!

You do realise it's from Yorkshire? ;)
Nice system steve, and your not too far from me,
In the 90's i had an otto and a audio note dac on trial for a few days from zen audio in hull, good kit as i remember but i started diying amps around the same time, so i did not buy them
Got into px4 valves around that time and am now well on the slipery slope of set triode amps

Good stuff, I imagine there's a lot of satisfaction to be had from making your own kit.
Zen Audio were a cracking dealer. I didn't realise they used to stock AN.
Mind you, in them days I was very much a flat earther so it would not have registered with me, despite getting a Rega Planet from them.

Your system needs a NA Mentor, so bugger off and buy one. :punch:

I was never out of zen whilst they where on george st, they has some unusual gear, i remember some french eliptical speakers with optional tweeters, but real hints of life in the sound,
Ive always liked a sound with some life in it...but they where coloured big time
Cant remember their name
i went through a solid state phase up the around 96 then got lost to good valves.
I used to loan lots of valve amps from Zen, eventually buying a UR simply 845 from them Within a couple of weeks i built my first px4 amp and the simply was sold.. Not looked back...

Hope the tendon heals quickly.
Will you still be coming to Scalford as a visitor?

Nice system!
Thanks, may I ask about your speakers?
I'm not familiar with the LX HE.
How do they differ from the standard LX?
Are they the ones with the hemp cones?
Cheers

Exactly, these are the ones with the blue woofers. Efficiency is 98 or something like that according to AN, in reality probably less. :) i have not lived with the black woofer ones, only heard them at my dealer but the difference is quite audible: better across the board. as far as i know they dont make the K with the hemp woofers.
The Oto is getting quite a following! As always, system synergy is everything, and I suspect you got it, Steve.

Yes, i have also auditioned an oto signature for my system. Its a sweet amp, great musicality and flow but its really large and does not propel enough the music i listen to. But thats a tube thing i guess. :)

LOL, they are a bit of a big box.
Amazingly, the DAC is the same size! :stalks:
They are a compromise, true, and I can certainly see they would not be for everyone.
Thanks for the insight on your speakers.

I can't claim any credit for that though, Pete.
I just made sure it was black and gold with a AN badge on it. ;)

Nice system but I can't help wonder if that support table looks like it's quiet bowed, if so a more rigid and level table would improve the sound I feel.

Thanks for the concern Neil, appreciated. The picture is quite deceptive though.
The shelf is flat, indeed is specified as being able to take 50kgs, but with a rounded front on it for aesthetics. :)
