Hi all.

Just received my new Denon DL110 which I'm very happy with!
I have up for swaps my ADC XLM mkiii. It has a brand new original NOS stylus fitted at Christmas so hardly any hours on it at all. I'll also include my spare original stylus which is in perfect working order but I have no idea on the hours.
I haven't the original box but this will be packed securely for post.

I will swap for a DAC must be silver or something interesting, let me know what you have either via PM or on this thread.

Sorry for the poor pictures, I've only my iPhone for taking photos :o

Hmm. I'd quite like this, but the only thing I have to swap at the moment is a pair of rather rare and superb Yamaha HP1 Orthodynamic headphones. They use an Isodynamic diaphragm which operates in a similar manner to electrostatics. I'm a little reluctant to part with them as they sound superb, but I'm just not using phones lately. Any good to you? They're probably worth about the same.

Sorry Geoff but I have no need for headphones.

Thanks Grant.

Ok I'll say £90 delivered if anyone is interested as the replacement stylus cost me £54 just before Xmas plus an older spare stylus.

Normal DAC. I not long ago sold my Bushmaster MKII DAC as it was in black and my setup is silver. I just never got round to replacing it :o

Somebody has got themselves a very nice cartridge.

Did you really move to a DL-110 from this Nathan? I really like ADCs. My 10E Mk.IV was a match for my DL-103R in sound quality, they sounded surprisingly similar.

Not quite sure the XLM III would be happy in your arm, even with a light headshell.

I did Geoff. Maybe I'll regret it but I'll be honest at the moment I'm very happy with the Denon.
I think I need to get a detachable head shell. I want to try out a few cartridges as I've only ever had the ADC and with a fixed headshell it's a bit of a pain. Plus it's the money side of things at the moment. I can't afford to keep both :o

Maybe not Geoff... not actually sure what mine's designation is tbh... think its a mk2 improved at a guess.???

If your SME has the fixed headshell you definitely need to add a bit of mass for your MC to be at its best. Experiment with a decent blob of BluTak to find out how much weight you need and locate a suitable add on weight. I make my own.

By the time of the MK III, the XLM had reduced compliance and a hopefully more reliable suspension, which changed again with the 'improved' versions I remember, both these tracking at 1.3g or so I found over many samples. I currently have a ZLM with new ADC stylus in my Dual 701 and it's a lovely thing. Sadly, my 26 doesn't like high frequency tracking at all, so either faulty, worn suspension or just a symptom of the very high compliance it was lumbered with :(

That'll almost certainly be down to the whoppingly high 60cu compliance Dave. The 26 can even have trouble with 'low mass' arms. It just about copes with my 774, but something like a Black Widow would be better.

Suits the Transcriptors fluid arm well tho.

I imagine it would. Never tried that combination. I hated the arm lifter on mine.

Yeh tis a bit heath Robinson. The Kite shape head shell on that arm are beautiful design tho. But they really need a finger lift adding imho.

I use my ADC25 (which has the same compliance of 50cu as the ADC26) in either a Breuer Dynamic 5A arm (having an effective arm mass of 4g) or in an Infinity 'Black Widow' arm (having an effective mass of 3g). No problems with mis-tracking found when using either arm.
