Well, here goes!! being a newby here and only being back into vinyl over the past 12 months - rather than continue to upgrade my NAD 533 I decided to put a turntable together from scratch and to be honest it's heads and shoulders above my 533. Just given it's first run through my new Rega RS3's and I'm more than happy - even more so when everything was second hand apart from the base deck and the re-wire!! :)

Essentially it is made up of the following:
Edwards audio TT1 bare deck, Edwards Audio aluminium sub platter on ceramic bearing with new "little belter" drive belt. 12mm glass platter which I either top with an acrylic mat (Lp's) or felt mat (45's) sits on RP9 feet with a rega clear lid. The tone arm is a Rega RB250 which I've fitted the Cardass silver "Litz" wire ending in silver bullet rca plugs ending with a Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge and stylus.

As mentioned the only items that are new are the base turntable and the re wire....and has come in well under £400 quid :) Which I didn't think was too bad for what's included :) :)

Sorry about the pic's but was excited :) :)

Looks very good.....I was thinking of upgrading my trusty Project 2 with one of the Edwards but was not sure how much of an improvement it would be:)

It looks very good Graham. I'm glad you've come back to vinyl, a good move.

Nice as you like Graham.

The Blue is more than decent for the money too :)

To be honest, the bare deck including motor and plastic spindle really isn't any difference to my NAD apart from the motor position - It was just a reasonable buy - £80 on ebay brand new!! The only reason I didn't use my base was that I wanted to keep using it till I had all my bits, then sell it complete to recoup some money :)

I really dropped on that and got it for nearly half price...It's brand new and came fitted to a guys new turntable, but he swapped it straight out for a "Bronze"!! Bargain!!!

Really fell back in love with vinyl!! BUT, the down side is that I've got the "collectors" gene and I really do find it hard not to buy any more vinyl!!! Just can't resist a "bargain"!!!!
