I am looking for a TD165, arm and plinth are unimportant as they will probably be replaced the top plate and motor must be in god condition though as must an ability to either post it or live in the Oldham/Manchester area. One recently went on ebay for £92 with ortofon cartridge to give an idea of the figure I have in mind. Thanks.

Hi Moonsine!

I always found the Jubilee special edition 'TD147' to be a nice looking deck

They are inded Mr Barbarian, tbh I like the look of all the vintage Thorens. I would go for a 147 in a thrice as an alternative to the 165 and will try and alter the OP to reflect this. Well pointed out that man.

as an afterthought to my previous thread I would be more than willing to buy the 147 as well as the 165. As before arm and plinth will probably be replaced so their condition or absence is not an issue. Both top plate and motor must be sound and would either have to be able to post or live in the Manchester area. Sorry for multiple threads.

i noticed the above addition. There is a standard '147' in black & there's the 'Jubilee' in brushed champagne gold, the latter are rare. These models have auto shut off.

Tbh I would prefer the black, the plinth it is going in is high gloss red wood and the contrast with black would be most pleasing to the eye- which is why I was minded to get the 165 for the black knobs and metal top plate.

Trouble with the '165' is they generally have placky Sub-Platter & small Diameter bearing... Get a Black '160'

Aye,I have a 160 already, this is for my daughter,i am putting her a HiFi together for a wedding present, and would prefer to get her a different deck to mine. But I have also been looking at 160s. I have also been looking at some black acrylic top plates for a 160. I just has an inexplicable love of Thorens from back in the day. Possibly because I always lusted after them but at the time couldnt afford wan.

Got a 160 mk1,immaculate top plate no arm and shabby plinth shaft on inner platter looks to be in fine fettle. Now to the fun bit.
