Just a little bit more will get you a 2M Black. This is simply a superb MM cartridge which will certainly play Blues and Rock.

Nagaoka MP300. Not as clinical sounding as the Ortofon but still does all the right things.

+1 for the Naga: an altogether more musical sounding cartridge than the 2m Black, but one that still ticks all the relevant ‘hi-fi boxes' :)

ANIQ2 or 3 second hand.

Just as good and a touch less clinical than the Black. Rocks too :)

An SAE 1000LT will do the job as well.
Or an AT150MLX. A very fine sounding cartridge too. A nearly new one for sale in the private exhibitions section, and leaves you more money for vinyl.
