Advance sound settings for HiFace 2?

Evening all...

I have an M2Tech Young DAC attached to my Korus server via BNC coax to a M2Tech HiFace 2 RCA USB to S/PDIF converter. In the advance settings for the HiFace 2 (Control Panel> Sound> HiFace 2> Properties> Advanced) what should I have the default format set to? It starts at 16 bit 44100 hz (CD quality) but has 10 graduated increases up to 24 bit 192000 hz (studio quality) - so should I have it set to the highest option or something in between?

Thanks Grant, but mine is actually the HiFace 2 as seen here (http://www.m2tech.biz/public/pdf/hiFace%20Two%20user%20manual%201-0.pdf) and I found the instructions far from clear with regards Windows 8 and using jRiver Media Center 20. Having said that, its does briefly cover these settings on page 15, albeit, it says to test rather than suggest an optimum setting...

Ah the new one.. I had the orange one but it didnt like win 8 when I tested it. I was actually using it on Vista. I have JR 20 too although I have found that 19 is more compliant at moment with the stuff I am using at moment. I think I used 16 bit 44.1 if memory serves as I didnt have any high res files.

The HiFace 2 works really well with my Young DAC with the default 16/44 settings, but I do have a selection of 24/96 (Floyd, Eagles & Carpenters amongst others) and wonder what other Korus server owners have this setting set to. I'm sure I read somewhere here on AoS that the 24/192 setting was overkill, but that might have been dependant on the DAC being used...

set it to the highest setting.

The Young DAC should have no problems playing a 24/192 stream.
Why the use of the HiFace2?
Does the Korus not have SPDIF out?

Best approach Pete is to set it as high as you can, which will cover all the different bit/sample rates for your music files.
I think your right, the AOS comments about lowering the max bitrate would have been Dac dependent.
As the Young Dac can do 32/384 no need to limit things. :eyebrows:

Wasn't originally spec'd Chris, originally was USB output to Dac.
Have sold a few Korus servers with coax or optical spdif output, just depends on what's required. :)

Yep, mine is an independent twin USB variant and with hindsight, I perhaps should have gone for the coax spdif out. Having said that though, the HiFace 2/Young DAC combination works a treat, so I'll try the highest setting and see how I get on :cool:

Wouldn't be difficult Pete.
Couple of different ways to do it.

The Hiface is very good though, not sure you'd get any improvement.

I'd still be interested Gaz, its more of a matter being able to take an unnecessary link out of the chain rather than make any improvement. Shall I drop you a PM or are you happy to discuss the options here? :)
