One of Ruark's best kept secrets. The Paladins are very musical transducers as a few of you will attest having heard them with valves at Nebo's one and two. They are in great condition having been lovingly cared for. Their performance has been further enhanced having been rewired with Kimber cable. 4VS to the high frequency and 8VS to their low frequency drivers. Unfortunately i do not have the manufactures cartons anymore so pick up from Teesside would be preferred. Please get in touch if you would like to know more about them or want to arrange a demo. £370

No Ali
tThese aren't my Crusader III's that i had at NEBO 5. These are a two way design though i have to say, they are rather special.

No Rich, The Crusaders are the Paladins bigger brother. The Paladins were priced between the Talisman II and the Crusaders II. The Paladins had a completely different design remit using a paper bass/mid whilst still utilizing the companies preferred soft dome tweeter. The only thing that let the stock Paladins down was the BICC (of the reel) internal wiring. This was something that myself and an old friend remedied by rewiring with Kimber cable. Once the cable burnt in they became giant Killers. They are unique, musical and kick ass. This really is a silly price for them and as mentioned above is a steal.

What am I thinking of then??? The paladins are a bigger box than the crusaders right? Maybe my eyes playing tricks on me. I recall these being quite large when I last saw em.

Yes Rich. You are right. The baffle is much wider to accomodate the 10" driver. They are a chubby speaker.

I had a pair of these for many years, used with a full rack of Linn kit. Enjoyed them a lot.
Floyddroid, sorry unrelated to your sale but check out the cover to Marijuana Deathsquads album Oh you sexy Lord. It sounds good too.

Hi Martin, I was looking to arrange a 'try before I buy' with Steve in the event of him not being able to move them.
If you're uber keen mate and in a position to do a quick no-hassle sale I'll step back.

If i hadn't just bought one of them Crown amps Jerrys been banging on about i would have snapped your hand off.
Alas i haven't even broached the delicate subject of funds with the keeper of the royal purse yet, just saw them and wanted them, so take your time and evaluate them for yourself and you'll give me time to shift a few things on in the event you don't get on with them.

Please forgive this off topic post Steve, apologies

To tell you the truth i wasn't all that impressed initially. I was running it from a Rega dac and my Linn pre and it sounded fairly lethargic. Anywho i had a case of the what-ifs and took the pre out of the equation and used Jrivers pre amp/ bit perfect volume and BINGO:eek: WOW JEHESUS, very immediate and up and at em kinda sound - very much my thing. Now i wanna borrow a balanced Dac to try see if it sounds better than single ended, but seeing as taking the preamp out has made such a huge difference i don't know how much more it has to give.
At the moment i'm reet chuffed and am now on a mission to replace my old Heybrooks with something a bit livlier/faster and a new dac possibly when i can shift some stuff on, but things are definately coming together.
Cheers for the recommendation, i'd never have tried one of these in a million years if you hadn't posted, and the performance for the price is gonna' take some serious beating.
Nice one Jerry:D

Linn pre ... yeah, well ...
I've only ever used the Crown with my Restek pre, balanced, and that's a corker of a combo, too.

Thank you sir. Likewise. I was quite concerned about your return trip across the M62. I will retire to my bunker and hope to avoid the onslaught of the coming Fatwa. Glad the Paladins are doing it for you. The pair you have there are rather special. Enjoy.

I am listening to the Return Of The Kung Fu Skinhead by King Hammond as we speak,it has never sounded so fine. Return journey was fine. Until we got to five miles from Oldham, then blizzards occured. I love living on teh Penines,we gets proper weather. Tho global warming has ruined winter for me,I can remember snow drifts that literally covered my house up to the roof. Now that was weather. The North. It will rise again.

Did you bring them to a NEBO Steve? If they are the ones I’m thinking of they were a nice speaker.
Kralks not good with a SET?

They're ok Ali but the issue isn't with the Kralks it's with me. They are very revealing and a typical monitor. A fantastic though very revealing speaker. I have become so used to listening to a floorstander with heft when i need it especially when listening to some of my "special music" the Kralks don't do. I do have the option of wiring in my subwoofer i suppose. However, i don't really want to do that. The Kralks are one of the most wide open and honest sounding speakers iv'e heard having said all that.

Might be worth trying the sub. Take a while to dial in properly but would be worth it IMO.

Just a suggestion. Put the Wharfedale Linton Heritage on the list. Nice speakers, and not overly revealing. Enough detail on top. The matching stands they come with are decent, and look nice.

Thing with Wharfdale is they are not a company i would expect to pay a lot for a product.

The Wharfesales won't be a million miles away from the Kralks i don't think Shane. In fact i am willing to bet the Kralks are streets ahead of the Wharfedales?

I can't answer that I'm afraid. I guess the Wharfedales will give a more polite presentation.

I imagine people's views of the Wharfedales are based on the recent history of the company, mainly the Diamonds etc. I believe the more recent offerings in the heritage style are aiming to re-enter the midfi market and are supposed to be very good if you don't mind a more laid back sound.
