I'm reworking my Vinyl system and looking for advice and information on all aspects.
I try to DIY where possible.
Just built a Phono pre to get my old technics 1200 up and running again.
I have modded it so far with (all DIY) with an arm damper , external power supply, head tweaks, rebuilt main bearing.
I'm making headway but on the look out for a quality Phono pre PCB.

My music tastes are Classical. Folk and some of the older Pop of my mispent youth.

I have two systems
My main system
Primarily streamer based using a DIY Caps streamer from Computer audiophile, Async USB > Benchmark DAC2> Balanced into Two Hypex Ncores > ATC SCM 40. ( long interconnect very short speaker cables)
Sony CDPD11 pro CD player>SB touch.

Workroom system
Technics 1200> Own Phono pre + Pre Amp Sony> CDP11 Pro CD player>Benchmark Dac1HDR> Two Hypes Ucd400's >Kef Reference One-2
All cables and filters are DIY.

Spent this afternoon trying to measure the rumble and noise from my Technics to compare the old bearing with the one Ive just made.
Not overly successfull but the new bearing makes a great difference, more detail better Bass so the reduction in noise should be measurable.

The Ncores are very very good amps IMOP they top the sound for your pound table.
Easy to build as Hypex supply the interconnect cable to the SMPS supply and the input cable,so only LS out and mains to wire. The hassle is getting a suitable case. I made my own to suit my amps being installed immediately behind my speakers. (12" max speaker cables)
I moved to hypex some years ago with their Ucd400 amps and was one of the first into NCore. They have an excellent spec and one highlight is the very low output impedance so no difficulty in getting rid of the back emf from large bass drivers like my ATC's so very tight precise bass.
They Grip the speakers in journalist speak.
Lots on the Net about them and very very few negatives.
My only gripe and it applies to all Class D is the bandwith of only 50Khz. Brought up with valve and vinyl I like twice that --but then as I get older my ears aint what they were in those days.
