I have been using this nice Dual 505 type 2 for a few months, having bought it from a friend (who now uses his brother's automatic Trio) and serviced it, replaced the pitch belt, added a turntable mat (from a 505-1) and tried a few cartridges. It comes with an Ortofon OM with an after-market generic elliptical stylus. I could supply and fit a near new (5 hour) Ortofon OM10 at extra cost if required. Since this model has the removable headshell, changing cartridges is very easy.
It works very well indeed and is cosmetically and functionally really good - lifts and stops at the end of side; pitch adjustment effective (new genuine toothed belt); quiet in operation; counterweight dial and anti-skate adjustment work perfectly. The lid has some damage at the back (see images at the link below) and the hinges are slack but do hold the lid up at full height. This looks to be a very early type 2 and the hinges look a lot like Linn items so perhaps they could be swapped (if anyone knows feel free to comment please). The mains plug is a nice MK item often used by Naim! I have the original owner’s manual.
I cannot post but am happy to demonstrate it at my home and would meet a buyer half way within a sensible distance - all by negotiation of course. £90 ono. I might be interested in an Ortofon 2M Blue or Goldring 1042 in a trade.

This deck is ideal for regular use or for a new vinyl enthusiast to "test the water" or perhaps as a second deck to review disc "finds". I have several other decks and am now making a bit of space. All PMs welcome.
