Hello girls and guys,
happy to be here. my system is based on a Firstwatt J2 (love it) and a pair of AN-J LX HE speakers from Audio Note UK (love it). im in the process of changing DACs. i have done a bit of tweaking (power, vibration control, room treatments). AIlisten mostly to beat driven music but also like my jazz, indie, pop, and even classical from time to time. :)

Welcome to AoS Andras. He you enjoy yourself. A firstwatt J2, I have heard of; think N Pass had something to do with it and I believe it is spartan in parts but not in sound. Good luck with your dac search.

yes, Firstwatt is Nelson Pass' skunkworks operation, minimalistic designs. the whole thing has like 20 parts in it. :) 25 watts, single ended, class A, JFET transistors. its simply lovely.
I have a Geek Pulse Xfi on the way (it was sooo cheap), but i actually want a Lampizator, so ill probably sell the Pulse pretty soon after i get it.

thanks. i will get around posting some pics soon, these days i dont really get home before dark. :)
i listen to a lot of beat driven music (mosty not big room bangers but that happens too), but also some indie and jazz and sometimes classical. i guess its hard to describe my taste, stuff that is special in some way grabs me usually and then it doesnt really matter what genre it is. So from Erykah Badu to Anthony Rother, from James Blake to Arvo Pärt, from George Michael to Laurent Garnier. And stuff in between. :)

there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. its fab. however i feel it confirmed that i want a bit of tube magic in the mix. :)

Buy a cheap X-10D. They work rather well at that.

As you are changing Dac's I would recommend any AN Dac, they are very good indeed ;)

:) i have heard AN dacs and the are indeed very good. i do need usb however and and dont want to add too many devices. the lampi has the usb, the tubes and from what i understand sounds pretty good and modern. i listen to a fair amount of beat driven music so i feel that would fit better. plus i can give it back if i dont like it. so we shall see.
