Quad 33/303

What do Forum members think I ought to sell this amplifier for?
Very good condition. Boxed.
Fully working and absolutely no problems.
Belongs to my brother, and I am selling it for him
He wants £225 for it.
Should I put it up on the Forum?

I reckon a near mint set in original boxes with literature would be worth over £300.

I had a pair in boxes with literature made about £200 on ebay IIRC but I thought I was pretty lucky at that. Though who knows prices may have moved on, it was a few years back.

I have a soft spot for the 303, less so for the 33 (the 34 now, that's a different story).

£225 for the pair with original cables, plugs, packaging and literature sound fair to me. 303s easily go for £180, and £45 for a 33 is not unreasonable.

I follow eBay auctions for Quad gear regularly for various reasons and by that comparison £225 seems fair enough - if in very good operational and cosmetic nick and with boxes etc.

if you do an eBay 'advanced' search for sold items you can get some indication - prices vary wildly but one constant is that recapped or recently serviced versions fetch decidedly better prices than stock originals. Not many want to pay good money for very old gear and then be stuck with the inevitable chore of updating them or the expense of sending them off to have it done.

So, what about a Quad 34/303 combination?
I have just purchased a new amplifier and am considering selling my 34/303 combination.
The '34 was serviced about a year ago ( by Keith Snook ) and the Phono input adjusted to suit a high output MC cartridge.
The '303 was repaired about 18 months ago by an local audio repair business ( for over £100 ) so it's all in 'fine fettle.'

I have decided to keep the 34/303, as a potential customer is thinking about using them with a pair of Wharfedale 80th. Anniversary Denton loudspeakers.
Now that is a nice sounding speaker...
