hi

I've bought a pair of audiolab 8000m monoblocks. I already own an 8000 's' integrated and 'p' stereo power amps.
My speakers (atc scm7) are bi-wireable.

I found the following advice in the manual. Unfortunately without the diagram of the cable connections.

"... the 8000M and 8000P can be used together in a bi-amplified stereo
configuration where two 8000M amplifiers drive the bass channels and one 8000P drives
the treble channels.

Both the 8000M and the 8000P can be used in conjunction with the 8000S integrated
amplifier for multi-amping."

I want to use the 8000s in pre mode. It has two sets of pre-amp output. I have two sets of interconnects.

Is it correct if

1. a pair of interconnects go from the first set of pre out to the 8000p. the stereo power to drive the high freqs?
2. from the second set of pre output a single interconnect goes to each monoblock to drive the bass?

And I assume I need 4 pairs of speaker cables?

Thanks for your help.

Hello Peter,

You will need to use one set of the output sockets on your 8000s to feed the 8000P power amplifier, which will drive the treble channels of your speakers (and thus use two sets of speaker cables). You will then need to use the second set of output sockets of the 8000s to feed the 8000M monoblock power amps, which will drive the bass channels of your speakers. Since the monoblocks are separate items, you will need separate and individual interconnects to join them to 8000s preamp. Again, two extra sets of speaker leads will be needed to connect the 8000M monoblock amps to the bass speaker terminals.

So your understanding of the amplifier configuration is quite correct.

Good luck with the alteration - let us know how you get on.

Regards
Barry

In short - yes :)

That's good news Peter,

Glad to hear there were no problems. It sounds 'different', but does it sound better?
