These BD139 units are ABRs or bass drones. Used to compliment the output of the bass driver in a speaker system. Basically, they take the place of a bass port. I've tried BD139s with 6.5", 8" and 10" main drivers in the past and had useful results each time. They do need to be used with drivers with good self damping (strong magnets). These are the last and best version KEF made. Most examples seen for sale these days tend to be a bit scruffy and battered, these are not, they are the tidiest pair I've had for years and very nice indeed. You'd be unlikely to find a better pair.

So, how do you use them Geoff?

If you look at the KEF Cadenza, Calinda and 104 you'll see how they are used. The main driver is the 8" B200 (big magnet version), which provides the energy to excite the BD139, which is tuned (with the cabinet) to resonate in phase at bass frequencies, augmenting output.

I have actually got a round 8" BD200 going spare. I think you mentioned you might be needing one Grant.

BD200; yep thats the one in my speakers...yes it has a slight cut in it. Might be an idea to buy it from you in the near future as I think I am keeping them. I quite like them actually and go very well with jazz.
let me know what your looking for it Geoff :)

You can have it if you cover the postage.

Here are a couple of photos just to be sure it's the right one. I think it is.

There are a few small marks in the enamel that can be touched in. Actually, if I can find my satin black I'll do it.
