Painted one of the living room walls yesterday. Looks ok.. Just finished making some Retro Teak shelving for the wall {simular sytle to the 60's Poul Cadovius shelving}, that's up as you can see, looks good. New Curtains & New carpet down this week.. It's Ok innit when the only time you get is on holiday.. :rolleyes:

I have an original starbust Metamec clock for the wall but needs a new Germanium 'AC122' transistor fitting in the mech.

I'm just totally redoing my living room. Been working on it bit by bit since before Xmas. Awkward 'cos I can't take furniture out, rest of house too full to take it. First time it's been done in years. Going light and modern this time. Was dark old & comfy. Doing white walls etc. Black leather chairs & studio couch, unusual looking light grey oak laminate floor & curtains. Light oak sideboard & shelf units. Trying to keep it light & simple. Coming together rather well actually.

Yeh ive been doing this since before crimbo but work just kept getting in the way. Im in the same boat i can't take the furniture out & ontop of that i have the new living room & new bedroom carpet across the living room as you can just see on the picture :doh:

I quite like fitting carpet & flooring. It's just a knack I seem to have for some reason. Never did it for a living.

Yeah. It's pretty hopeless fitting carpet when furniture is in the way. I know I've done it.

I had great fun doing it bit by bit across the room whilst shifting all the furniture around so I could work. It's done though and looks fine (if you like that sort of thing). :)

I've just done two rooms. Only a bathroom, hall/landing and two more bedrooms to go.

(plus a garage extension, two sheds to refurbish, fences to fix & treat, garden to chop back, cars to service, speakers and TT to build, etc., etc! :eek:)

I have purchased tiles and stuff to do the bathroom but they have been sitting about for a few months now, I must get round to doing it...I just can't get excited about it... only guitar playing and music playing seems to get my attention at the moment... :doh:

Well the clock Mech was unrepairable so had to fit a brand new one. I managed to get a set of fingers identical to the originals so im pretty much happy.

So here she is an original Metamec clock. Ive just made a dozen new wooden Finials out of a 40 year old piece of Teak which will look identical to the originals & to match the Teak furniture i have. The original finials were shitty Beech wood spray stained which is unacceptable in my book. Anyhow these just need drilling, finishing & fitting, i can get it on the wall then..

The old Barbarian been busy again. I spotted this old Mahogany table lamp in an antiques shop a bit back, at a guess it's 1930-50's! good for £20 anyway.. I stripped off the french polish down to the bare wood, sprayed it a light teal. Had a bespoke 14" diameter x 9" tall Orange Lampshade made to give the lamp that big 60's/70's look, just finished wiring it..Wadder yer fink commrades? I think maybe a slightly brighter bulb anorl, those Energy saves are so cack it's unreal.

I trust you used 99.999 oxygen free, OCC, silver plated wiring with a teflon dialectric and 100% shielding for the wiring. It improves the luminosity.

Seen you can buy incandescent light bulbs in Robert Dyas (is that a country-wide store?). It's legal to sell them as long as it's for industrial purposes... so the boxes say "not for home use" on them.

I'm uncertain about energy saving bulb's total impact on the planet.. they NEVER last as long as they say, get worse the more you turn the light on and off. I cracked one open once and saw the cheap circuit inside which gives the bulb the initial starter kick. I'd guess that the cheap chinese capacitors go much much sooner than the bulb itself. Compare the chemicals etc used in the overall manufacture compared to some glass and metal of an incandessent bulb which can be recycled and I'm unsure which is best.

Think that counts as a rant..
