Hi, I'm very new to this and have decided to at 43 buy my first turntable. I have just bought my first Amp Pioneer SA-301, Tuner Pioneer TX-540L this came with the deal, Speakers KEF Coda iii. I am now on lookout for a TT have been looking at maybe a Thorens TD160B MKII or TD145 MKII.
Music taste is from U2 - Black Keys - belle and sebastian, listen to XFM and maybe bit of LBC & BBC London do like listening to Robert Elms 1200-1500.

Hello and welcome Lee.
Geoff.
Welcome to AoS Lee. The 160 is a grand deck that can be improved as and when you finances dictate, and as such is a worthwhile contender. have one recently fettled and it is great.
Sure if you open a thread in the appropriate section plenty of advice will follow. Any pics you have of your equip should be put in the gallery section as we all love photos of gear.
Enjoy, and regards Grant.

Hello Lee. Welcome to AOS.
I agree with Grant, the TD160 is nice. Better than the 145 in my opinion.
Let us know what you end up with. You may want to ask about suitable cartridges.
Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.
Welcome to AoS Lee,
I would agree with others here, in that the Thorens TD160 is the better of the two decks.
Enjoy the Forum

Barry

Hello Lee
This is THE forum if you are interested in Technics Turntables. There are quite a lot of owners of the Technics SL1200 / SL1210 turntables here. Not only that but there an entire subforum on the matter: http://theartofsound.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?46-The-Techiepedia Have a browse round there and you will see that they can sound good and look good too.
Don't be put off by tales that they are a DJ deck - they were not designed as such. Anyway, welcome and put up a few pics of your gear when you can.
Cheers from NZ
