Mint and unused - RRP is £495, yours for £395 + P&P.

Bored of the usual Rega recommendations and want a genuine step up?

Helius these days have a very low profile in the UK, instead depending on word of mouth and export markets, both of which mean the company is doing well.

Does marketing make any difference to sound quality? Of course not!

This is the top version of the Scorpio 4, which is 10" arm length instead of 9" and single strand silver wired.

Review is here: http://dagogo.com/helius-designs-scorpio-4-tonearm-review

Extract from the review here:

"So, how did the Helius Scorpio 4 compare to other arms I have used? The answer is, with the right cartridges it will hold its own with all I have listened to in my system. That would include the Tri-planar, the 12-inch Ortofon, Helius Omega Silver-Ruby, SME 3009 and SME 3012. No, it’s not as refined sounding as the Helius Omega Silver-Ruby or the Tri-Planar. It is definitely not as extended on top or quite as detailed as these two arms, but the Scorpio 4 is close and it is very musically satisfying."

Bearing assembly here, note the tetrahedral bearings, invented by Helius and *ahem* borrowed by others...

Wow didn't think the prices were like that. What do you think of it? In honesty I've never had the chance to use it, but am starting to think whether I should keep it for a rainy day - I have a Systemdek Transcription that I wanted to restore & add this Scorpio 4 onto.

As well, I should say it’s not as relaxed as the two 12-inch arms I have mentioned. Still, for the money it’s closer than it should be to the best of these arms.

Bump, so indeed this version sells via dealerships in Australia for £700-odd.

Bump, it's also on eBay at the same price.

As my seller fee would be £40 on eBay am willing to drop the price to £355.

As you can see, build quality is way higher than the Helius Scorpio arms of old. There's still a bit of "cottage industry" about it, finish not up there with an SME for example, but the bearing assembly, arm assembly and wiring are right up there in terms of quality.

Hello.......Can you tell me what sort of mount this arm has?
I am contemplating fitting it to a TT with either SME or Rega fit
Do you have all the fitting info and the arm template?

Hi, yes I have all fitting info and templates. It is a Helius-specific mounting arrangement, but some more "universal" mounting plates will take the arm no problem, or you can get a Helius armboard made up.

Thanks,

Neil
