Smart TV into Benchmark DAC

Hi, I have a Smart TV and its routed into my Benchmark DAC via an Optical Cable, Youtube, TV and everything else sounds great but with NETFLIX all I get is loud Chattering noise:steam: any idea what's going on?

PS NETFLIX is fine through the TV Speakers

Sounds like they are feeding a Dolby Digital signal which requires a DD decoder to decode.

Tv may be decoding the signal internally. The answer probably lies in the specs, TV set up instructions.

Netflix's output I think is Dolby Digital Plus, which isn't compatible with optical (SPDIF) bandwidth me thinks.

Just set the TV's digital output to 2ch stereo rather than DD 5.1 most TV's/PVR's have provision for this in their settings menus.

I watch NETFLIX regularly routing the sound via optical cable from TV to a Beresford 7520 DAC and have never encountered problems so would tend to agree that this is more likely a TV setting than NETFLIX output per se....

... mind you, my TV is a bit old and not very smart :D

I take you have 2 channel and not a 5.1 speaker system so set the tv to output the former and you may have to set the output to digi out from the tv menu.

had the same problem with a BT vision box. Just changed the output to 2ch. stereo from 5.1 DD. Works! Job done.
