AKA S-Man on a couple of other forums.

System:
Arcam Alpha+ CDP (Slightly modded)
DIY preamp/active crossover
3-way DIY semi-active with 'electronic control' on the bass
Grant GL50 power amp (modded to use KT88s) or any of the countless ss amps I have built
Sondek (in the loft)

Music:
70s rock
Nice singing
A strange addiction to Joe Jackson's varied output
Anything with a good tune and decent rhythm, and I'm a sucker for a stonking bassline.

Other interests:
Been MTBing for 20 years, usually twice per week. Love technical singletrack, but don't like mud (slight problem in the UK!)
I've also got a trail bike (and if think cagoule wearers don't like you on an MTB, try one of these!)
Like to drink beer, bit not that good at it. Like to eat, seem to be OK at that.
Moaning about ported speakers.

BTW, I was nicknamed "Starterman" about 15 years ago when I met a group of MTB riders who invited me to ride with them. We used to do a lot of evening rides and then spend the rest of the night in the pub, followed by the slurry house. At first I used to just have a chicken tikka starter because it I thought it would be bad for me to eat a full curry at midnight - that did not last long! Most of them don't bother with the riding bit any more.

TBH there's not much to see - my entire system is shown on the NEBO thread - just a few black boxes and generic looking speakers.

That's how I like it. Hifi should be heard not seen!!

I agree. Many are lured by the looks (big meters are the current fav here at the moment). It's fine to have nice looking gear, but the sound comes first in my book. Fortunately the stuff I choose seems to look OK, but that's just chance really.
