I've decided its time to part company with my vintage Sony TA-F6B amp.
It's in beautiful condition and perfect working order.

I'm looking for offers around the £200 mark for it or would swop for another amp to try. Perhaps a Yamaha, Nad, Pioneer, Rotel, Sansui, anything really WHYG ?

More photos can be supplied if required.

I've put this on ebay now.

The Sony TA-F6B is was one of the first high tech amp that I ever had a chance to play with when I had to do product tests at Lasky's. The power supply was certainly the most advanced I had ever seen up to then. I remember that it had an outstanding phono stage and the mainly FET design produces a very clean and detailed sound. Sony ruled the HIFI world at that time as far as their FET based amps are concerned. These amps are best used with British made speakers of the 70's and 80's era. I had good results with three way speakers with double 8" drivers.
At £160 it's an absolute bargain, especially for someone looking to set up a high performance vinyl rig for very little. If I didn't have two outstanding amps for my vinyl setup already I would have snapped it up at that price. The single picture from the OP really doesn't do this amp justice, which could well be having an impact on the interest shown so far in it.For some better impressions, see http://www.thevintageknob.org/sony-TA-F6B.html

Theres one on the bay starting at £175...;) Always liked these type of amps, although dont know this one well, I do know it looks great, and will take Stan's word for its ability. If it had come up in a few weeks I may well would have been interested.

Sony were always the Japanese safe bet for me. Most of their products ive owned & heard in the past, over the years have been more than worth the money, Very reliable too..
