As above, for a NS-1000M

They're a bit thin on the ground Kulwinder. Have you damaged one? Maybe a repair could be done.

They certainly are. The one I have has fried its voice coil, which are apparently unobtainium. Spoke to Wembley, they just shook their heads :-]

Maybe it was too complex a job for Wembley Loudspeakers to want to get involved in.

If you know the spec of the voicecoil and former, there are specialist coil suppliers and makers who may be able to come up with something. I've seen a lot of what look like good voicecoil units sold separately on US and Far Eastern sites. Fitting replacements is a bit of an art (to say the least), but not impossible.

Probably beyond my skills, however!

Apparently, the NS-1000M voice coil if of a particularly tricky construction. Daresay, unless one sourced an exact match, there would be sonic differences too...

A quick scout around on the net brings up all sorts of things.

This supplier may be a useful source: http://www.mwaspeakerparts.com/

There are others.

I'm not suggesting you should have a bash, but if you could find the right coils, I reckon a UK specialist may be able to fit them.

Rather than look on eBay, there are used part suppliers who may have suitable drive units. Like this (NS1000M drivers) for instance: http://audiophile-hifi.myshopify.com/products/yamaha-ns-1000m-12-woofer-ja-3058a

It's an old listing so I expect they are gone. but they do come up now and then.

This place also purports to keep Yamaha drivers: http://www.oaktreevintage.com/Yamaha_Speaker_Parts.htm

Many thanks for the links Geoff. If all else fails that might well be an option.

There are actually a couple of the bass drivers on Ebay but they are in the USA. Given how prone they are to damage in transit (epoxy holding magnets on frequently comes adrift, it seems) I'd be happier with a UK-based source. Could be a long search though...

They do come up on eBay from time to time.

Fingers and pretty much everything else crossed.

BTW, love the account of your rebuild... amazing job. What on earth is your day job?
