Well I have been squirrelling away certain items that I know will achieve collectors status, they weren't expensive and are at the level where in some ways they hold up to HiFi at any price. I do need to be more realistic though, do I really need 4x pairs of Royd speakers?
More photos to follow:
LFD PA0 (SE) - excellent condition, not a mark on it.
Classic stereo power amp from the British school of minimalism. The SE version is very rare. Needs easy to drive speakers to get the most out of it IMO, but has been cited as an excellent match for Quad ESL63s. 50W of MOSFET sweetness with an immediacy and clarity to the mids and highs that people associate with SET / tube amps. It really does have a slightly sweet and rather illuminated character whilst sounding dead neutral. Read reviews of the LFD Mistral, PA0 (less grip than SE version) and LFD Zero LE3, all essentially the same circuit...
£385 incl. P&P

Royd Sapphire MK1
Grilles and labels intact, with original packaging in Walnut veneer, 9/10 condition the best pair I've seen. These are hugely revealing speakers, fast fast fast, uncouth in a strangely beguiling way as they throw music at you. They are very natural with vocals and are addictive to listen to, and am only selling as I have too many pairs of speakers and feel that Minstrels are better suited in my young daughters room over a pair of standmounts.
£180 incl. P&P
Audiosector SPDIF NOS DAC - premium version
Excellent condition. This is a hairshirt DAC mounted on a wooden block using a mix of blackgate caps that'd alone cost more than the asking price these days. This is a very non-digital sounding DAC, listen to some piano or guitar, some vocals too, and find out why. It is not the last word in refinement, but it is a sin of omission as the sound is much more like a good analogue source like vinyl or cassette. It appears that Peter Daniel has worked obsessively to remove "digital sound" from his DAC and you are rewarded with huge dynamic contrast (no flat and hard digital soundstage here) and non-fatiguing sound. I also have an appropriate BNC to RCA digital cable that I will supply. Had to spend 10x more on an Audial Model S to beat it.
£185 incl. P&P
