Well I've finally got around to posting my setup in the gallery section. Just got myself some new gear so i thought why not. The new gear is the rack and my pride and joy a Pioneers SA-9100.

My setup isn't just hifi, It's also home cinema/gaming setup. I made the electric projector lift myself with the help of a few electrician friends which is lucky as my electrical skills are zero

Anyway here some snaps of my gear.

82" electric screen which hides just under the swags nicely in the front window. On the left is a 42" plasma for everyday TV watching. I built this into a partioned wall.
Now you see it!

I've replaced the original motor and PSU with this origin live speed box and motor as i found it frustrating keep lifing the platter to change speeds.

Terrific set up. well impressed. No centre speaker or sub i notice. Is this perceived to be overkill? That's a fabulous system.

Sorry about the firebottle i just didn't like the big blue LED so I modded it a bit and made it a bit of a smaller LED :o hope you don't mind. It's still sounding sweet by the way!

Thanks Steve.
The reason no Sub is because the B&W 683's pack a hell of a punch already. I did have a BK Gemini running with them but my neighbours were getting a little cheesed off I think.
I also had the centre to match the 683's but it was way way to big for a front room. As the wife said, this isn't a cinema its a front room!! So I sold it and never replaced it. Not sure why but I have got used to it running without 1.

Great looking set up, best I have seen for a while and a great solution to hiding the screen and projector.

Good to see another fan of the B&W 683 as well. As you say a sub isn't strictly necessary with them even for HT, they don't have too much trouble going low. I also bet the HT set up sounds better without the stupid centre speaker, they're about as useful as tits on a boar. ;)

I'll be honest and say I've not missed it at all! I think it sounds just as good without 1.

Thanks for the kind words Martin

Thanks David! The surrounds are mission 77DS. I must admit the projector lift was a major project and took near on 3 months to complete but well worth it now.

:stalks: :comatose: Nice one Nathan, quality ooze from the set up and install, good mates to have. :)

A wee Q, is that a communal path in the back?, just as well the lower half of your window is frosted glass,
where i am i'd be very worried from unwanted attention and blinds would be permo shut.

Thanks Andy,
Yes it is a communal path, We have quite a big green area out the front for the kids to play. I must admit the area is fairly quiet but it is always quite satisfying when i push the remote button and watch the screen and projector lift hide away out of sight.

B&W 683 - Good speakers. I was going to get a pair of the Mk2 until I stumbled on these JM Labs which are basically the same idea.

What do you reckon to them?

I honestly love them. There very good with audio and home cinema. I've just bought a World audio Kel84 and it really sounds awesome, I'm loving it. According to the B&W website the sensitivity is 90db which is working very well with the new amp.

Yep they need current rather than watts. £800 when the first came out. Lots of speaker for the money. B&W get an unfairly bad rep, but you have to get the partnering just right with them, they are not forgiving speakers.

Hi Nathan,

The KEL84 is a great little amp, I used one for quite a while before selling it on, a chap in Bristol bought it from me, where did you get your one from?

May even still have a few spare valves in my parts box, you can have them if you wish.

I bought mine from audio T in Bristol. I paid £900 which seemed to be the going price in back in March 2013. The manager even delivered them to Yate for me in the back of his estate. His face when he arrived looked as if he gave himself a hernia :rfl: they are heavy mind.

Hi Nigel!
I bought it from a chap in Liverpool. It's in very good condition, almost like new I'd say.
The spares would be great cheers! Always handy to have!

Thanks again mate, I'll PM you my address.

Nice to see someone else using a Shure M75 :) . It's my cartridge of choice at the moment over the esteemed Jico SAS M55e. I put an HE stylus from turntableneedles.com in mine and it gives a clear, ballsy sound I feel, with more heft. A bit of a bargain and I'm not tempted to look elsewhere.

It really is a great sounding cartridge. Very clean and crisp with great bass. I may look at the stylus your using too, will be nice to hear the difference.
Cheers!

Here you go Nathan - https://www.turntableneedles.com/Shure-N75HE-Stylus-for-Shure-M75-Series-Cartridges--our-Needle-760-DHE_p_1076.html

Not the cheapest of styluses but I took a punt on it and I'm glad I did. You can spend a lot of time and money thinking 'what if I try this?' In the end when something sounds right it is right. It probably helps if you don't go to bake offs and compare other carts though
