As some of you know I have been considering a phono stage upgrade and had settled on a Sonneteer Sedley. But at some point I know that I will want to upgrade my amp from the Cambridge Azure 651. Which I find fantastic by the way. So listened to a Sonneteer Alabaster and seems to be my perfect amplifier.

Here's the question and sorry if it sounds numpty: would the inbuilt phono stage in the alabaster be just as good as a separate one? I am assuming it's the same circuitry but just wondering if I am missing something?

Happy New Year all

I think I am missing something as I had thought I had read that the alabaster has a phono stage built in but now I am not sure. I'll do more digging!

The Alabaster is line level only - you will need a separate phono stage.

BTW, if you fancy an Alabaster, let me know.

Latest news on Sonneteerblog is that all Alabasters will have a built in phonostage from now(the one from the Campion!) ;)
