Jump to the front!!!!!

Can some please explain why this mite be happening? I'm reasonable new back to turntables, and I bought a clearaudio TT and set it up and it's been running fine and sounding fantastic for the last 3 weeks ! Now over the last couple of days when I've lowered the stylus, as it makes contact with the LP instead of following the lead in groove it jumps to the beginning of the first song?? Why??

You didn't say what arm you have on the Clearaudio.

My inclination would be to check that the turntable is properly level. Reset the anti-skating adjustment. Clean the friction pad that the arm rests on at the arm lifter.

Also re-check tracking force, they do that if it gets too light for some reason. (bumped)

Also make sure you are not dropping the stylus too close to the edge as there is a slight bevel often on records that can make them jump inward. also make sure the lowering mech is dropping straight down.

The TT has a Satisfy Carbon arm on it? I'll aslo check the other point's you've all made thanks for the reply's

Are you hand -cuiing? Or relying on the lift/lower mech. I always hand cue, can't abide those mechs; they always seem to drop the needle too hard or in the wrong place.

I use a cueing mech., but do it by hand, ie. control the speed of drop. A Decca on a Decca unipivot arm is not really suited to hand cueing!

May be the VTF is too low and the stylus can't bite into the shallower lead in grooves so the anti skate is pulling it across to the deeper music grooves where it gets some grip.
