Got offered a pair of Kef Coda's(I think) for free. Look quite nice, but not sure of the model. they look to have 2 big, maybe 6 inch drivers and a small tweeter I think although only caught a glimpse....any ideas and are they worth the houseroom.

They are a fair bit bigger than that/ sort of between a floorstander and a standmount in black.. look to have a mid and bass of same size.

Google some KEF speaker photos. You'll probably find them.

Not tried those. Must be worth trying for free though.

Going to have to get rid of some gear so a nice set of speakers for nowt may work well with what I am left with.

Ha. I just suggested elsewhere that you start a thread on them and now there they are already. They look decent. That's an ABR at the bottom by the way (I just happen to own a spare one).

I like the acoustic room treatment on the rack next to them. ;)

Thanks for the link Duncan. have been searching in vain and was on that site but missed them. yes they seem to be pretty good shape apart from a tiny split in one of the radiators which shouldnt cause much of a problem

The ABR has a split? I did mention I have a spare one doing nothing if you need one.

They look to be a more modern iteration of my Calindas.

yes if you zoom in at the top of the rad just to the right of that white mark you can see it going vertically. if its a problem i will maybe take u up on that geoff.

look similar Martin. calindas had a oblong rad i think. think these ones were made for Laskys ?

Yes - different drivers and ABR alltogether but otherwise the same basic design idea - and size from the look of it.

Beaten me to it, as I sort-of remember that these were a 'Lasky's Special'. My only advice is to make sure the drivers are firmly fixed to the baffle and also the four little screws around the dome are firmly tight (a #0 screwdriver is fine for these tweeter screws I remember). They may perform best a way out from the back wall, but obviously this depends on room and taste. Just think how many hundreds they'd cost new now (£750?)

yes sure they woukd have not been cheap. dont think kef made any crap that i remember. in fullness of time i will try them and if they sound good i will clean them up and get or make some short stands. Alas many changes are being forced on me so will kust have grin and bear it:)
