with a warm hello to all the members and followers of this site / community / whatever !
I found the site recently when I did google for DENON's vintage tuner TU 200 searching the data sheet . Well, I was not able to find it, but I found a thread from this site .. and I realized that's maybe a very good community with a few things in common I also like !
It's not new , it's since 20 years or so , that I'm full of respect and admire the good old vintage stuff ( hifi / hi end .. whatever it's labelled ) and those companies who did manufacture and assemble such parts.
with two exceptions ( an old AKAI tape and a Bogen amp) I didn't invest time and my addiction to the tube's parts , it's way too expensive.
Instead I collected a lot of vintage parts from the early 70ies.
It's all started with an old Kenwood receiver ( KR 7050 or so ) who one day crashed and I trashed it.
When I was looking for a replacement I realized how much he did fascinate me and how stupid it was to trash it (I guess it was just an old cap who got to heaven with a loud sound ) . Because all these wonderful parts ( first receivers in focus ) were so damn great and attracted me more and more.
Meanwhile I really have way too much parts , just laying around , without attention ... and I need to sell them.
Some parts I simply refurbished , cleaned , repaired a few little things , gave them their light bulbs back , or collected to a great ensemble
( as for instance a total Fisher 7000 silver , including timer, tape , boxes and a TT on top ! all in almost mint condition) .
The bad thing is : getting older means I'm not so great anymore n repairing stuff, I have to wear glasses , time is limited (job and career) .
The good thing : I'm still fascinated by these parts and by all these fine people ( engineers, manufacturers ) who once developed, designed and produced that vintage stuff !
Music ?? rarely the mainstream pop, more the classics in rock ( all flavors , southern , folk , ... ) and singer/songwriters - hand made music preferred, a guitar fan anyway !
When it comes to the concert classic stuff, well ... the sound of the oboe touches me to my most inner deepest spots.
Besides the vintage in my house I run a simple HK receiver , still an excellent sound from the 4550 , still a DVD 25 / mod. to 2550 , some selfmade TL boxes and a setup of MB QUART TERRA for surround fun (these are pleasing ear and eye).
What's still in the garage waiting for me is ... too much to tell you here :) ... and not always high end stuff, sometimes more funny and part of a "collection" , not always of highest value .
I'm not such an internet freak , but I will join the site from time to time reading some interesting threads / blogs here !
