record cleaning

well im bored shi*less so im gonna clean a few albums,here's my set up including the home made vacuum wand which just slips over the end of my hoover. :)
if that lot fails to improve then them they get the titebond treatment!

I need to get back on track with that, too. I di a fair chunk of my collection then stopped because I by accident threw away a whole packet of Nagaoka inner sleeves. Except it turned out I hadn't, found them again a couple of weeks ago. :)

the novelty has definitely worn off with me,when you first hear the results you want to clean loads,now i can only stand 4 in one stint lol

I know what you mean. I got into the habit of just doing two or three before starting a listening session. You soon get through them that way, it's surprising.

Yeah I bought a Moth record cleaning machine earlier this year; cleaned about seventy LP's, got very bored, sold the Moth. How stupid :doh:

Just got a Moth ( it's not yours Haselsh1). Very impressed with it, but after 4 or 5 cleans, that's enough.
A friend gave me about 60 LP's he had in his loft, no record player any more, so been cleaning them and valuing them. Found a potentially valuable copy of Abbey Road.

Been a good investment though the Moth. Should have bought one years ago.

I bought a Knosti a few months back. Then I bought a spare base part for it , so I could clean the records with warm/ hot water and a soap liguid as a surfactant , tip that away and rinse and
then put then in the second bath with distilled water , and iso prop .
Biggest prob , keeping the labels dry and not getting any streaking from a bit of soap mix going under the label covers !!
Had great results but boy , Its a pain in the arse!!

However , having discovered an album case I had forgotten where I had put it , I find every album has got mold in the tracks and are unplayable . Been kept dry but not warm enough !!

So its back to the Knosti for a session:rolleyes:

Must say as I only listen to vinyl I have found my VPI RCM invaluable.
I buy vinyl from a great variety of sources and therefore always need to clean before playing, even brand new stuff.
Luckily I have a mate who letsme have RCM solution made to his own formula but it works very well.
I have managed to bring back to life some very dirty records after intense cleaning. It's amazing what can be 'restored ' with a good RCM!

I wouldn't want to risk damage to my records trying to put 2 on at the same time let alone taking them off.

I'll stick with my PRC4

I moved my Pioneer Turntable and stack into another room for Christmas ,which was the room where the box of albums ( with mould on the vinyl ) had been left .
So when I saw I had a copy of Wishbone Ash's New England I had forgotten I had got , although it needed a clean , I popped it onto the TT to have a quick listen.
The mould must have been literally stopping the deck from going around:mental:
Thought it had gone wrong , but it was the crud that must have been causing it to drag enough to slow it down.
When I popped a clean LP on it was fine :doh:
I must get around to making an RCM,there are enough really good threads about ,on making one!!

My definition of cheap is £40 for a Knosti, can't be arsed fannying about with DIY RCM's!

Luckily many new vinyl customers are buying the above in droves, encouraging for the future of vinyl to say the least.

I think I'll give one of these a go. We need a new vacuum cleaner and I can get one of these and a new Henry for less than a Moth!

I have one and yes it does go both directions.

Yup, as the guys says it goes both directions.

When You flick the powerswitch and it randomly goes clockwise or anti.
Just reflick the switch until it goes the other way.
I do 2 revolutions one way then flick the switch for another 2 of the opposite.
