In case anyone has an Airport Express or AppleTV you can similarly use Airfoil to "hijack" any music stream (Spotify, YouTube, iPlayer etc etc) off your PC over to the Apple device.

I got one of those silly cheap all4one things from play.com for a little background music using spotify. It is really quite acceptable for background stuff considering I paid just £17.99 for it.

Thanks Trailer, that's excellent. Started using Spotify as a source of music as we were packing the flat up and have be genuienly impressed. It's never going to become a primarly source, but for background listening it's pretty good.

Also, it seems that in addition to not having any adverts, the £9.99 p/m paid for services also streams at double the bitrate; 320kbps vs 160kbps....

Now that's interesting... the cost starts looking far more worthwhile...

The 160Kb/s stream is quite good. The 320Kb/s stream could be excellent but I haven't yet has time to test it.

As I read the options it is only available with the monthly subscription, and not available with th day sunbscription.

I must admit that I use Spotify for 'sampling' stuff I then go on to buy. The adverts only get triggered at the end of a track after a certain amount of time, so they don't bother me when I'm dipping into tracks to see if the rest of an album is as good as the track I've heard before. But for the price of a CD, as main source, Spotify 'Paid For' looks like very good value.

Hmmm what am I doing wrong? I have downloaded ds bridge put the LAME thingy in the spotify folder and got the little blue spot on my taskbar. I looked up my IP address using IPconfig and it gave me 192.168.0.2. When I try to connect to this I get a timeout message-help!

This is the IP address I connect to on my network, http://192.168.1.141:8124/ , the final :8124/ section is vital to the connection.

In your case the address should be http://192.168.0.2:8124/

The 320 kbps service is excellent, noticeably better than the free service.

Thats done the trick Chris-I have been messing with this all afternoon. I should have asked earlier.
It sounds really good at 160kb/s so the premium service must be worth a tenner a month (but not at the moment:()

AFAIK nobody has written the required DS bridge stuff for mac. You're better off digging around the Slim forum.
