Selling some valves bought as spares when I owned an EAR 859.

I have two Ei EL509 power valves, as used on the original EAR 859 and 869 integrated amps, and also the 861 power amp (with the top HT connectors). I believe the valves are either unused or lightly used (they were sold to me as unused, and they do look brand new, but have slight solder marks on the caps, which may indicate some usage). Please note, this is a different valve to that used on the EAR 509 monoblocks (PL509).

Looking for £48 the pair, incl postage in UK.

I also have three PCC88 valves, as used in the EAR 859/869 power amps, the EAR 868 and 912 preamps, and the 88PB phonostage. These are TdP (EAR) branded and unused.

Looking for £42 for the three, incl postage in UK

The EL509 with the top-cap is quite scarce now. I believe that EAR have none in stock anymore.

I hope to be changing my 8L6 for a 859/869 or 861 (rockinghorse poo) so I could be interested shortly??
But can you clarify as I thought the valve used in this family bunch was the EL519?

Hi Martin.
Yes, EL509 and EL519 have identical electrical characteristics, apart from the 519 has a slightly higher current capability (slightly 'sturdier', for TV use) ... in practice, no difference.
Good luck with the amplifier search ... the 869 is, by all accounts, a bit better than the 859 ... so must be darned good, as I thought the 859 was pretty special.
Yes, the 861 pretty much never comes on the market second-hand, as those lucky enough to own one, keep it!
