Onkyo M5000R

I am considering separates and am considering the Onkyo M5000R power amplifier. Any impressions from anyone who has tried it?

The Visual impressions are good, but if anyone has heard this beastie I would be interested.

Dunno about that one, but you could look for the XTZ power amp... Rumoured to be a stonker and the better half of the integrated that I had, which was brill...

Thanks for suggestion Jason, but these beasties are not available downunder. In any event the Hi-Fi choice review said they run exceptionally hot - not what I want at the moment as we are getting some 30° days.

Oh yes, I forgot about that... They do get hot!

I'd be tempted to get the Onkyo as it just looks so damn cool... I always loved the Technics pre/power combos with the big VU meters :eyebrows:

Have not tried it myself but I consider it to be fairly strong competitor in its price range.

Yes that is the review I saw. In fact it was shortlisted for higher honours.
