How annoying is this in everyday use

I know exactly what you mean. And that's reminded me that many years ago people just didnt say ' You know what I mean!' the way almost everyone does so often now. I have two daughters, nearly 12 and 16. The use of 'Like' in every other utterance started with the younger ones but as with most things it spreads quickly to adults, work / office, celebs, tv etc and here we are :rolleyes:

For me it was the use of "yeah" for "yes".

And so 'so' and 'like' will be normal soon enough. "Yeah" - seems unthinkable to me that it would ever be cringeworthy! I guess it was well established before I was born.

Starting a sentence with 'so' is so commonplace now - it really gets my goat. Can't bear it. It's become almost de riguer for junior ministers and boffins on Radio 4 to start any given answer with it. If I'm editing interviews now I take great pains to chop off any errant 'So' that drifts before me.
