im looking to buy a cd player which will marry ok to my recent purchase of a myryad z amp
i was just going to buy the starter ranges from richer sounds as i didnt want to go the e bay route, they have a teac at £99 and i think a cambridge topaz around £120 and a denon around the same,
my budget isnt a lot as im trying to build slowly// i was wondering if any members were considering selling a cd player that wasnt too old which in real terms would be better spec than these 3 models, although older
so if postage came into it i would have to take this into the budget

im very new to hi fi but i have been told that some older cd players fail to read cd,s after some years and can get draw judder problems
as i say its a very long shot as some of the members set ups are really high end , i just wondered if someone was selling a good spec model if they had upgraded their systems

regards

If you are spending around £100 you may be better to go second hand. Sometimes you are unlucky and the laser goes, but most CD players will go for 20 - 25 years without problems. The Marantz CD63 AND 67 are fairly well regarded (some will say different:D) and there are lots of mods you can make to them that MAY improve the sound (again it depends on your ears and what you like and don't like) There are also the Pioneer range of "Stable Platter" players, some of which were quite pricey in their time and again in most minds are pretty good.

I don't know your amplifier, so what sort of sound does it give and what do you like to hear from your system? What speakers have you got and what sort of music do you listen to?

I'll soon be putting a Sony 303 ES up for sale - might be interesting for you. Classic Sony battleship ES build. Will be advertising in the next couple of days, and within your budget.

I mentioned this elsewhere David, but nobody is paying attention. It's a Sansui, so it will be decent, nearly new too and at £50 how can anyone complain?

some of the rotels are good cdp in my view --- but I think you may have to spend a little bit more to get one of the better ones like RCD-1520...... Cyrus are good CDPs too in my view in that budget - I have a Cyrus CD Quattro to go --- its a CD and a pre combined £850 new i think ---- you don't have to use the pre obviously and it gives you upgrade routes later if you PM I can send pictures if you like I'd be looking or £205 deivered

I think my son still has his Marantz 63 KI Signature in a box. He doesn't use it now. I can check tonight if he still has it.
Would you be interested for £60 and postage? Will offer a 3 month trial period for return and refund if you don't like it.

this is a very very very long shot , i have aquiered a secondhand sansui amp its an a40 in silver
i did say to the gentleman who gave it me that it may be spare and that i couldnt use it as i already had an amp , he still kindly said you can have it , i feel it morally wrong to sell it as i didnt pay for it
but if anyone lives within the south yorkshire area i would be happy to swap it for a cd player in playable condition
the amp apparently crackles when you turn it on for a few seconds , but is fine after that

as i say ill probably end up keeping it but if anybody does fancy a swap then feel free to pm please

as a purchase and not a swap does anyone have a rotel 965 cdp

Hi Craig,

I have a Rotel 965BX available, I think I said £30 on an earlier thread due to the mains lead being a bit short.

Craig, postage would be on top of the £30, or we could meet somewhere near the middle for fuel costs but postage would probably work out cheaper.

A very nice 24 bit cdp with wolfson dac tec...I've heard many much higher end players not as good as this...If I had a gripe..the case is a bit weedy..but that's easy sorted...and for £100 inc post is a stonking good buy..This player retails between £200-£250...
