View Full Version : Wanted: Rega DAC
Trying to find cheap Rega Dac (satin finish) to pair with my Brio R. I can see a lot on ebay selling, maybe the hype did sell it a lot in a last few years, maybe not.
I bought Brio brand new half priced, listened to Mira for few days before buying and now very satisfied with Brio R.
I think ill be good with Rega DAC, hype or no hype, cant be that bad.
So, if someone is not satisfied with it, Europe based, and wants to get rid of it, maybe we can get a deal.

Thanks. Yeah, i've seen it. But its black and bit too much, for me at least. With shipping it will go even more. Maybe i'm a cheap bastard, shame on me.
But a patient one, so i'll wait. Thanks again though ;)

??? .... sorry if I'm being a bit thick but I'm a bit confused by all the 'hype ... no hype' references.... or am I missing something ?
I've got a Rega Dac and its a very good sounding DAC

Doubt you'll find a decent Rega dac any less tbh. 6 months ago the 2nd hand ones were over £300. I know a few folk who are happy with them.

He has dropped the price to £250 now.

About the hype, just saying what i've read, and i've read i think everything there is on it. In one thread somewhere one said how its not actually that good and a lot of folks agreed, bit of thrashing went there actually.
But, that was one thread that didnt like Rega DAC, and praises are all aroud. Just saying..
Im bidding on ebay on one right now, wish me luck ;)
I own a mk1 Rega DAC and it ain't going nowhere, it's a capable bit of kit which sounds pretty damned good to my ears. I suspect the reason there a few on the secondhand market just now is due to the recent release by Rega of its successor ;)

Yeah, that seems to be the case. And its just USB and filters got upgraded or changed a bit. ..Wonder why DAC-R only comes in black finish, as DAC and Brio in satin look very nice..' Sales in favor of black? eh..

You may be right regarding sales of black units Edo, I bought a black one because personally I find the silver examples a bit 'in yer face', although I now own a big, beefy Jap amp which is very silver so consequently the black Rega sticks out like a sore thumb in the rack
Guess im a sucker for silver gear. :) I started with this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dkQjESChTA (someone elses video)
Also a tuner and cassete deck, part of the same "system".
Now onto bit better sound, Rega style.
edit: Won! the auction. :carrot: Got a nice satin Rega DAC for 440USD/280GPB. Plus a little bit of shipping, not much. Maybe i could have done better, but satin ones look to be pricier than black.
I'll post few pics of my audio when Rega arrives.
